Ed has deep knowledge of all things structural, mechanical and electrical. He is extremely thorough. He inspects everything and produces a report (ours were 92 and 66 pages respectively) with a tremendous amount of detail. This is very helpful when working with the sellers on what repairs you expect them to either perform or reimburse you for. The thing I liked best about him, however, was the way he worked with us. We accompanied Ed on the inspection (a practice I would highly recommend, regardless of what inspector you use) and he took time to explain everything he was doing. What he was looking for. What things were good and bad (and why). He gave us numerous tips on maintenance, whether professional or do-it-yourself. My wife and I were suburbanites and had never had to deal with well water, septic or heating oil and he took the time to educate us. He gave us all the time we wanted and answered all our questions fully and understandably.
When purchasing a new home, I had the pleasure of working with Ed twice in the last month or so. Twice because he uncovered some serious issues with the first house we had a contract on which saved us from making a terrible mistake that would have cost us tens of thousands of dollars and years of headaches. The second house went much better.
I would (and have) recommended Ed to anyone. He was on time, professional, thorough, knowledgeable and has a great bedside manner. I wouldn’t use anyone else, given the opportunity.
